What are regulated professions in Germany?

Vocational training in certain occupations in Germany is linked to recognition of professional qualifications. These professions are called regulated professions. Medical professions, for example, are regulated (doctors, Nurses, Physiotherapists, etc.) Legal professions or teachers.

For citizens from so-called third countries (not EU countries) an individual examination of the equivalence of the professional qualification by the competent recognition authorities of the federal state in Germany is required, as there are different training contents in the individual countries. If the content and duration of the
Training is given full recognition. If the training content is partially different, partial recognition can be achieved. Applicants can compensate for a lack of knowledge by taking an aptitude test or an adaptation course.

For the recognition procedure as a nurse you are 2100 Theoretical and 2500 Hours of practical training in various specialist areas of nursing and a passed final exam required.

For the recognition procedure as a nursing assistant you are 600 Theoretical and 1000 Hours of practical training required in the.

For the recognition procedure as a doctor you need a total of 5500 Training hours.

Documents required for applying for the recognition procedure for nurses.

These are:

– Application form
– Power of attorney
– Proof of employment (Employment contract or application
– Tabular CV (in the original in German)
– birth certificate
– marriage certificate (if married)
– identification card, Pass
– Proof of completed training (diploma, Bachelor, Master
– Proof of the content and duration of the training (curriculum,Book of hours, Timetable or similar) with details of the subject areas, Semester and hours
– Proof of professional experience (job references, Proof of internship, Workbook, o.ä.)
– German language certificate. A language certificate of at least B1 level is required for recognition (B2) according to the "Common European Framework of Reference for Languages" by a recognized
Sprachinstitut (Goethe, Telc or an ÖSD certificate) to submit.
– Criminal record certificate
– Health certificate
– Proof of advanced training

proof:
All evidence is always in the foreign language original or as official
to submit a certified copy. Official certifications must have been issued by a German authority holding the seal (either in Germany or in a German consulate in your home country)

Certifications and translations:
All certifications and translations of documents must be created by a publicly appointed and general translation agency in the Federal Republic of Germany.
